St. Paul Restaurant Equipment

Restaurant Equipment and Supply for St. Paul, Woodbury, Eagan and the East Metro

St. Paul cooks from deep roots. The Saint Paul Farmers' Market says it was established in 1854, Mickey's Diner has sat on its downtown lot since 1939, and the largest urban Hmong community in the country fills St. Paul's markets, food courts and family restaurants with stuffed chicken wings, khao poon and papaya salad. On the West Side, El Burrito Mercado has anchored the District del Sol since 1979.

Every winter the Saint Paul Winter Carnival, which dates to 1886, takes over the city, and every late August the Minnesota State Fair fills the fairgrounds in Falcon Heights. South and east of the city, Woodbury, Eagan, Burnsville, Apple Valley and Lakeville cook for the suburbs of Washington and Dakota County, in the state that made hotdish its own.

Since 2015, The Restaurant Warehouse has shipped to thousands of commercial kitchens in every state. East Metro orders ship from our Chicago warehouse, so St. Paul-area restaurants get the same low prices and freight delivery right to St. Paul, Maplewood, Woodbury, Eagan, Burnsville, Apple Valley, and Lakeville. The most common orders here are reach-in refrigerators, freezers, sandwich prep tables, fryers, griddles, draft beer coolers, and food truck equipment.

St. Paul's Hmong Kitchen: Markets, Food Courts and Family Restaurants

Hmong families began settling in St. Paul in the late 1970s, and their food is now part of everyday eating across the city. Hmong Village on Johnson Parkway, developed by nine local businesspeople and opened in 2010, is one of several indoor markets where food-court stalls and family-run kitchens sell stuffed chicken wings, khao poon curry noodle soup, papaya salad, Lao and Thai-style pork sausage, mok pa (catfish steamed in banana leaf), whole fried tilapia, purple rice and nab vam, a tri-color dessert drink. The 2010 Census counted about 66,000 Hmong in Minneapolis-St. Paul, often cited as the largest urban Hmong population in the world.

Market stalls and Southeast Asian kitchens run on fryers for wings and whole fish, work tables for pounding papaya salad, undercounter refrigeration sized for a tight stall, and freezers for bulk proteins.

Mickey's Diner, Cecil's Deli and the West Side

Mickey's Diner, a 1937 Art Deco dining car, was set on its lot at 36 W. 7th St. in 1939 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It closed in 2020, reopened in October 2024, and still serves the half-pound Big Sam burger. In Highland Park, Cecil and Faye Glickman opened Cecil's Deli on July 1, 1949, and it still serves pastrami on rye and matzo ball soup and fries thousands of latkes for Hanukkah. Across the river on the West Side, Tomas and Maria Silva founded El Burrito Mercado in 1979.

Diners and delis live on griddles and fryers for burgers, hash browns and latkes, sandwich prep tables for the deli line, and countertop display cases for the pastry case.

The Saint Paul Farmers' Market, Summit Brewing and the State Fair

The Saint Paul Farmers' Market says it was established in 1854 by the St. Paul Growers' Association, and "local" there means grown within 100 miles of the city. The Lowertown market runs year-round on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Mark Stutrud founded Summit Brewing in 1986 in a former truck-parts building on University Avenue, starting with Extra Pale Ale and Great Northern Porter, and its St. Paul brewery can now make 240,000 barrels a year. Every year the 12-day Minnesota State Fair runs from late August through Labor Day in Falcon Heights, and it sold 1,940,869 tickets in 2025. The fair had more than 80 foods on a stick that year, a line that started with the Pronto Pup in 1947 and grew with cheese on a stick in 1974 and walleye on a stick in 1992.

Taprooms and bars need draft beer coolers, back-bar coolers, and glass merchandisers, market-driven kitchens need two-door reach-in refrigerators for big produce runs, and fair vendors build around food truck equipment and fryers for cheese curds.

Free freight delivery with lift gate to a St. Paul restaurant

Restaurant Supply Store in St. Paul

We ship straight to your St. Paul restaurant. Most East Metro orders arrive in 1 to 3 business days from our Chicago warehouse, with free freight and free lift gate service. Will-call pickup in Chicago is available for verified restaurant businesses, but most kitchens skip the drive to Chicago and let us ship it. Most East Metro calls are for a fast replacement, like a reach-in refrigerator that quit before a State Fair weekend or a fryer at the end of its life, or for a full equipment package for a new restaurant, taproom, or market stall. Tell us what you are cooking and how much space you have, and we will help you size the line.

Why St. Paul Restaurants Buy From The Restaurant Warehouse

Every piece of new Atosa equipment we sell is run-tested for 24 hours at the factory before it ships. It carries Intertek's ETL Sanitation and cETLus listings, which certify it to the NSF/ANSI food equipment standards and US and Canadian safety standards that inspectors from the Minnesota Department of Health, the City of Maplewood and the Washington County Department of Public Health and Environment look for. Refrigeration comes with a 3-year parts and labor warranty and a 5-year compressor warranty, gas cooking equipment comes with a 1-year parts and labor warranty, and extended warranties are available.

St. Paul

From the Hmong food courts and family restaurants to the diners on West 7th and the West Side's District del Sol, St. Paul kitchens cover a lot of ground. Operators searching for a restaurant supply store in St. Paul usually need a fast replacement, so we ship reach-in refrigerators, freezers, sandwich prep tables, and fryers.

Maplewood

Maplewood runs its own environmental health program, and the city's Environmental Health Officer inspects its food businesses under an agreement with the Minnesota Department of Health. Maplewood restaurants order reach-in refrigerators, griddles, and ice machines.

Eagan and Burnsville

Eagan and Burnsville are suburbs, but Dakota County still farms. The 2022 Census of Agriculture counted 841 farms in the county, selling $364.8 million in products, up 55 percent since 2017, with 8,886 acres of sweet corn. Restaurants in both cities order reach-in refrigerators, pizza prep tables, and ranges and ovens.

Apple Valley and Lakeville

Apple Valley celebrates the Fourth of July with Freedom Days, and every summer Lakeville holds Pan-O-Prog, its summer festival since 1967, started to celebrate the Airlake Industrial Park. Kitchens in both cities order griddles, fryers, and freezers.
