Restaurant Equipment and Supply for Minneapolis, Bloomington and the West Metro
Minneapolis was built on flour. The Minnesota Historical Society says the city was the flour milling capital of the world from 1880 to 1930, and the ruins of the Washburn A Mill, flagship of the company that became General Mills, still stand on the riverfront. Today it cooks on Lake Street and on Cedar Avenue, where two bars have long argued over the first Juicy Lucy.
Every late August the Minnesota State Fair fills the fairgrounds in Falcon Heights, and from early May through October the Minneapolis Farmers Market runs under its red sheds on East Lyndale Avenue. Out in the suburbs, Bloomington has the Mall of America, Edina has Southdale, and every fall the Minnesota Renaissance Festival takes over weekends in Shakopee.

Since 2015, The Restaurant Warehouse has shipped to thousands of commercial kitchens in every state. Minneapolis-area orders ship from our Chicago warehouse, so Minneapolis-area restaurants get the same low prices and freight delivery right to Minneapolis, Bloomington, Edina, Maple Grove, Blaine, and Shakopee. The most common orders here are reach-in refrigerators, freezers, sandwich prep tables, griddles, fryers, draft beer coolers, and food truck equipment.
Mill City: Minneapolis Flour and the Washburn A Mill
The Washburn A Mill opened in 1874 and exploded in 1878, killing 18 workers. It was rebuilt in 1880 as what the National Park Service calls the largest and most technologically advanced mill in the world, able to grind flour for 12 million loaves of bread a day. It ran until 1965, and a fire gutted it in 1991. The Minnesota Historical Society opened Mill City Museum in the ruins in 2003. Agribusiness is still headquartered nearby: Cargill is based in the Minnetonka and Wayzata area, and the Star Tribune calls it "in most years the nation's largest privately held company," with about $154 billion in fiscal 2025 revenue.
Bakeries and from-scratch kitchens in Mill City need ranges and ovens, stainless work tables for dough, two-door reach-in refrigerators for butter and dairy, and countertop display cases for the pastry case.
The Juicy Lucy, Lefse and Nordic Minneapolis
Two South Minneapolis bars on Cedar Avenue have both claimed the cheese-stuffed Juicy Lucy. Matt's Bar, at 3500 Cedar, reopened under that name in 1954 and spells it "Jucy Lucy." The 5-8 Club, at 5800 Cedar, opened in 1928 as a speakeasy and says it developed the burger in the 1950s. Ingebretsen's on East Lake Street has been family-run at the same spot since 1921 and still sells lefse, the soft Norwegian potato flatbread cooked on a griddle and served buttered and rolled, and keeps its original butcher shop. The 2011 "Surly Bill," named for Surly Brewing, changed state liquor law so Surly could sell its beer on site.
Burger bars and taverns live on flat-top griddles, charbroilers, and fryers, while taprooms need draft beer coolers, back-bar coolers, and glass merchandisers.
Midtown Global Market, IndÃgena by Owamni and the State Fair
Midtown Global Market opened on May 15, 2006 in the long-vacant Sears building at 920 East Lake Street, and the market counts over 45 businesses from over 22 cultures. Sean Sherman's Indigenous restaurant Owamni won the 2022 James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant, then moved to the Guthrie Theater's main floor and reopened as IndÃgena by Owamni in June 2026. And every late August, the 12-day Minnesota State Fair in Falcon Heights brings nearly 300 food concessions serving 1,600 menu items, according to the fair. The Pronto Pup has sold there since 1947, Sweet Martha's cookie pails since 1985, and the Mouth Trap runs 17 fryers for its cheese curds.
Market stalls and fair vendors build around food truck equipment, fryers for curds and Pronto Pups, and undercounter refrigeration sized for a tight stall, with freezers and reach-ins back at the commissary.

We ship straight to your Minneapolis restaurant. Most Minneapolis-area orders arrive in 1 to 3 business days from our Chicago warehouse, with free freight and free lift gate service. Will-call pickup in Chicago is available for verified restaurant businesses, but most kitchens skip the drive to Chicago and let us ship it. Most Minneapolis-area calls are for a fast replacement, like a reach-in refrigerator that quit before a State Fair rush, or for a full equipment package for a new restaurant, taproom, or market stall. Tell us what you are cooking and how much space you have, and we will help you size the line.
Why Minneapolis Restaurants Buy From The Restaurant Warehouse
Every piece of new Atosa equipment we sell is run-tested for 24 hours at the factory before it ships. It carries Intertek's ETL Sanitation and cETLus listings, which certify it to the NSF/ANSI food equipment standards and US and Canadian safety standards that inspectors from the Minneapolis Health Department, city health divisions, Hennepin and Anoka county environmental health and the Minnesota Department of Health look for. Refrigeration comes with a 3-year parts and labor warranty and a 5-year compressor warranty, gas cooking equipment comes with a 1-year parts and labor warranty, and extended warranties are available.

Serving Minneapolis, Bloomington and the West Metro
Minneapolis is our hub for Hennepin County, the Anoka County suburbs to the north, and Shakopee in Scott County. Restaurants across the West Metro get the same equipment, free lift gate freight, and warranty, and they talk to the same team.
Minneapolis and St. Louis Park
The Minneapolis Farmers Market traces its roots to 1876, and its East Lyndale site with the red sheds opened in 1937. Next door in St. Louis Park, Park Tavern on Louisiana Avenue pairs a bar and bowling alley with tavern roots in the early 1900s. Operators searching for a restaurant supply store in Minneapolis or St. Louis Park usually need a fast replacement, so we ship reach-in refrigerators, freezers, sandwich prep tables, and fryers.
Bloomington, Edina, Eden Prairie and Shakopee
The Mall of America opened in Bloomington on August 11, 1992, and Bloomington's farmers market runs Saturdays from June to mid-October at Civic Plaza. Edina's Southdale Center opened in 1956, and Wikipedia describes it as the first fully enclosed, climate-controlled shopping mall in the country. Shakopee, the Scott County seat, hosts the Minnesota Renaissance Festival on fall weekends. Kitchens in all four cities order griddles, ice machines, pizza prep tables, and food truck equipment.
Minnetonka, Plymouth and Maple Grove
Each of these cities has a summer farmers market: Minnetonka on Tuesdays at The Marsh, Plymouth on Wednesdays at Parkers Lake Playfield, and Maple Grove on Thursdays from May to mid-October at the Community Center. Restaurants in all three order ranges and ovens, chef bases, and reach-in refrigerators.
Brooklyn Park, Blaine and Coon Rapids
Around 1900, Brooklyn Park was one of the nation's top potato growing areas, according to MPR, and the Tater Daze festival nods to that every June. The Blaine Festival brings food vendors and a beer garden to Aquatore Park the last weekend of June, and Coon Rapids runs a Wednesday farmers market at the Coon Rapids Ice Center from mid-June to early October. Kitchens and vendors here order fryers, draft beer coolers, and freezers.
