Sharp R-CD1200M TwinTouch 1200W Dual-Panel Commercial Microwave

by Sharp

Sharp R-CD1200M TwinTouch 1200-Watt Commercial Microwave Oven (0.75 cu ft, Dual Magnetron, Dual Control Panel, 11 Power Levels, 120V)

The Sharp R-CD1200M is a 1200-watt TwinTouch commercial microwave oven with dual magnetrons, dual control panels (one on each side of the unit), 10 computerized touchpads, 11 power levels, 4-stage cooking, SelectPower variable power, Express Defrost, and double and triple quantity programming. The TwinTouch design lets two operators run the same oven simultaneously from opposite sides, which doubles effective throughput at a stacked or pass-through station without doubling the equipment footprint.

The R-CD1200M is the entry point to the TwinTouch family at 1200 watts of output, designed to run on a standard 120V/20A circuit with a NEMA 5-20P plug. It uses the same dual-magnetron architecture as the 1800W R-CD1800M and 2200W R-CD2200M, but stays on single-phase 120V wiring, which is the most common reason operations choose the 1200M over the higher-output siblings.

The R-CD1200M is cULus listed and NSF certified.

Best Use Cases for the R-CD1200M

  • Pass-through service windows where one operator loads from the back and another retrieves from the front
  • Healthcare tray lines with two-operator workflows during peak meal service
  • Hotel banquet and event service with simultaneous two-station re-thermalization
  • High-volume quick-service restaurants where two staff share one microwave at peak
  • Coffee shop chains with paired barista and food prep stations
  • Convenience store hot-case operations with separate stocking and customer-facing sides
  • Sandwich shops, salad chains, and bowl concepts with parallel make-line and service-line workflows
  • Catering operations with two-zone re-thermalization at events
  • Operations that need 4-stage cooking and triple-quantity programming for complex menu items
  • Any 120V operation that wants TwinTouch dual-operator capability without 208/230V wiring

TwinTouch Dual Control Panel

The defining feature of the R-CD1200M is the TwinTouch dual control panel layout. One full 10-touchpad control panel is mounted on each side of the unit, so two operators can program and start cycles independently from opposite sides. The dual-magnetron heating system feeds energy into the same shared 0.75 cu ft cavity, but the controls are duplicated so each operator runs their own programming without reaching across or waiting for the other side.

This is fundamentally different from running two separate single-control microwaves on the line. The TwinTouch design saves counter space, runs on one electrical circuit, and lets both operators share the same set of programmed menu presets without reprogramming a second unit.

Dual-Magnetron System

The R-CD1200M uses two magnetrons feeding microwave energy into the cavity from different positions. The dual-magnetron architecture gives more even heat penetration in dense portions and reduces cold spots compared with a single-magnetron unit at the same wattage. This is the same engineering approach Sharp uses on the heavy-duty R-22GTF and R-25JTF, applied to the TwinTouch chassis.

1200 Watts on a 120V Circuit

At 1200 watts of output, the R-CD1200M re-thermalizes a typical 10-ounce pre-chilled entree in 45 to 60 seconds and defrosts a half-pound portion in 75 to 100 seconds. The unit draws 16 amps on a 120V circuit and requires a dedicated 20-amp circuit with NEMA 5-20R outlet. The 5-20P plug ships with the unit.

For higher output, step up to the R-CD1800M (1800W) or R-CD2200M (2200W) which run on 208/230V circuits.

11 Power Levels, 4-Stage Cooking, SelectPower

The R-CD1200M has 11 power levels, 4-stage cooking, SelectPower variable mid-cycle power, Express Defrost, and double and triple quantity programming. The 4-stage cooking is one step beyond the 3-stage cooking on the R-21/R-22/R-25 series and is useful for complex menu items that need a defrost stage, two cook stages at different power levels, and a hold or finish stage in one button press.

Triple-quantity programming is also expanded from the R-21/R-22/R-25 series, which only offer double-quantity. Triple-quantity is useful for service rushes when staff needs to heat three portions in one cycle from a single button press.

0.75 Cubic Foot Cavity

The 0.75 cu ft stainless steel cavity is slightly larger than the 0.7 cu ft cavity on the R-22GTF and R-25JTF heavy-duty units and slightly smaller than the 1.0 cu ft cavity on the R-21 medium-duty series. It accommodates a 10-inch plate, smaller bowls and cups, and pre-packaged single-serving items. Stationary ceramic deck with stirrer fan distribution.

Construction

Door, cavity, and outer wrapper are all stainless steel. NSF/ANSI 4 sanitation construction. Durable side-hinged see-through door with tempered glass. Sealed membrane touchpads on both control panels.

Comparison to R-CD1800M (TwinTouch 1800W)

Same TwinTouch dual control panel, same dual-magnetron system, same cavity, same 4-stage cooking. R-CD1800M outputs 1800W instead of 1200W and runs on 208/230V single-phase (NEMA 6-15P) instead of 120V. Choose R-CD1800M if 208/230V is available and faster cook times matter. Choose R-CD1200M if only 120V wiring is available.

Comparison to R-22GTF (Single-Control Heavy-Duty 1200W)

Same 1200W output and same dual-magnetron system. R-22GTF has a single control panel and one operator. R-CD1200M has dual TwinTouch panels for two operators. R-22GTF cavity is 0.7 cu ft, R-CD1200M is 0.75 cu ft. Choose R-CD1200M if two operators share the same microwave. Choose R-22GTF for single-operator heavy-duty service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is TwinTouch?

Sharp's TwinTouch design puts a full 10-touchpad control panel on each side of the unit so two operators can program and start cycles independently from opposite sides. Both panels feed the same shared cavity and dual-magnetron system, which means one oven, one electrical circuit, and one set of programmed menu presets shared between two operators.

What is the R-CD1200M used for?

Two-operator service windows, pass-through stations, healthcare tray lines, hotel banquet service, paired barista and food prep stations, convenience store stocking-and-service workflows, and any 120V operation where two staff share one microwave.

What is the difference between R-CD1200M and R-CD1800M?

Same TwinTouch design, same dual-magnetron system, same cavity, same controls. R-CD1200M is 1200W on 120V (NEMA 5-20P). R-CD1800M is 1800W on 208/230V (NEMA 6-15P). Choose R-CD1800M if 208/230V is available and faster cook times matter.

What is the difference between R-CD1200M and R-22GTF?

Same 1200W output and same dual-magnetron system. R-CD1200M has dual TwinTouch control panels for two operators. R-22GTF has a single control panel for one operator. Choose R-CD1200M if two operators share the oven.

What electrical hookup does it need?

Dedicated 120V, 20 amp circuit with NEMA 5-20R outlet. Draws 16 amps and ships with a NEMA 5-20P plug, which is not the same as a standard 15-amp outlet.

What is 4-stage cooking?

4-stage cooking lets a single programmed button run the cycle through four different power level and time combinations in sequence. Useful for complex menu items that need a defrost stage, two cook stages at different power levels, and a hold or finish stage in one button press.

What is triple-quantity programming?

Triple-quantity programming lets staff heat three portions in one cycle from a single button press. The unit automatically scales the cook time based on the programmed single-portion time.

Can both control panels run different cycles at the same time?

The two control panels share the same cavity and the same dual-magnetron heating system. Operators on both sides can program and queue cycles independently, but only one cycle runs at a time. The TwinTouch design is about two operators having independent access to controls and shared menu presets, not about running two different heat cycles simultaneously.

Is it NSF and UL listed?

Yes, cULus listed for safety in the United States and Canada, and NSF certified for sanitation.
