Restaurant Equipment Warranties: Protect Your Commercial Kitchen
When a reach-in refrigerator, fryer or ice machine goes down, the cost goes beyond the repair: lost inventory, a shortened menu and extra labor while you wait for a technician. A restaurant equipment extended warranty puts a fixed, one-time price on that risk. The Restaurant Warehouse offers CPS (Consumer Priority Service) extended warranties for commercial equipment from any brand, with on-site repair, parts and labor, and a $0 deductible, whether your factory warranty is still active or has already ended.

On each plan page, choose your current factory warranty (or Factory Warranty Expired), what you paid for the equipment, and how many years of coverage you want. After you order, we email you to collect the model number, serial number and purchase date, register the plan with CPS and send your plan documents. Nothing ships and no shipping is charged.
CPS Extended Warranty: Coverage, Claims and Exclusions
Every plan we sell is a CPS restaurant equipment warranty. Here is what it covers, how claims work, and what it does not cover.
Coverage
- Parts and labor for covered mechanical and electrical failures from normal commercial use.
- On-site service: a technician comes to your kitchen.
- $0 deductible on covered repairs.
- Nationwide network: CPS works with more than 50,000 manufacturer-authorized repair centers.
- Replacement if it can't be fixed: when a covered unit can't be repaired, CPS can replace it under the plan terms, backed by a "no lemon" policy.
- Coverage for equipment out of warranty: plans are available for units whose factory warranty has expired, including equipment you bought used.
Claims
When covered equipment fails, contact CPS using the claims information in your plan documents. CPS authorizes the repair and dispatches a technician to your location. Don't hire your own technician first; repairs arranged without authorization may not be paid.
Exclusions
- Routine maintenance and cleaning, including condenser coil cleaning and ice machine descaling
- Failures caused by improper installation, poor ventilation or incorrect electrical or gas connections
- Misuse, abuse, accidents and cosmetic damage
- Repairs done without CPS authorization
- Food and inventory loss
Your plan documents list the complete terms, conditions and exclusions.
Restaurant Equipment Warranty vs. Extended Protection
The most common question we get: if new equipment already has a manufacturer warranty, what does an extended warranty add? Here is how the two compare.
| Manufacturer warranty | CPS extended warranty | |
|---|---|---|
| Who provides it | The equipment manufacturer | CPS, sold by The Restaurant Warehouse |
| How you get it | Included with new equipment | Optional; buy with new equipment or later |
| Coverage length | Set by the manufacturer, often 1 year on cooking equipment | The term you choose, up to 5 years total |
| Used equipment | Generally not transferable to a second owner | Plans available for equipment out of warranty |
| Claims | Manufacturer's service process | CPS claims process |
An extended warranty doesn't replace your factory warranty. While the factory warranty is active, use it first. The extended plan picks up after it ends.
Atosa Warranty Guide: Parts, Labor and Compressors
Atosa is the brand we sell most. Atosa refrigerator warranty coverage depends on the product line, and the compressor is covered longer than everything else. Coverage runs from the date Atosa ships the unit, not the date you install it.
| Atosa product line | Parts and labor | Compressor |
|---|---|---|
| Reach-in refrigerators and freezers, prep tables, undercounters, ice machines | 3 years | 5 years total (sealed compressor only) |
| Chest freezers and countertop refrigeration | 1 year | 5 years total (sealed compressor only) |
| Charbroilers, griddles, ranges, hot plates, fryers and other cooking equipment | 1 year | N/A |
| Fryer oil tank | Tank leak in year 1: the whole fryer is replaced. After year 1: a new tank at no charge, but freight and labor are not included. | |
Two details are easy to miss. First, the extra compressor years cover only the sealed compressor; fan assemblies, temperature controls, electrical components and refrigerant are not included. Second, Atosa's own extended warranties must be purchased at the time of the equipment purchase. If you missed that window, or you're financing your equipment, a CPS plan is the way to add coverage later. To file an Atosa factory warranty claim, call Atosa at (855) 855-0399 with the model number, serial number, proof of purchase and installation date.
True and Turbo Air Factory Warranties
Some premium brands carry longer factory coverage, which changes how much an extended plan adds. Always confirm the current terms for your exact model with the manufacturer.
| Brand | Parts and labor | Compressor | Starts from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Turbo Air refrigeration | 5 years | 7 years total (sealed compressor) | Installation date, or 63 months from shipment for parts and labor, whichever comes first |
| True refrigeration | Up to 7 years on qualifying manufacturing defects | 7 years (hermetically and semi-hermetically sealed compressor parts) | Installation date, when correctly installed and used normally |
Like Atosa, Turbo Air requires the failed compressor or its tag to be returned on compressor claims, and its R290 and R600a compressor coverage depends on proper refrigeration service: a new drier during service, micron-level vacuums, and compressors sourced through Turbo Air's warranty department.
Commercial Freezer Compressor Warranty Explained
The compressor is the heart of a freezer's refrigeration system and the most expensive part to replace, so most manufacturers cover it longer than the rest of the unit. That longer coverage is narrower than it sounds.
- It covers the sealed compressor only. On Atosa reach-in freezers, everything is covered for 3 years; in years 4 and 5, only the sealed compressor is. Fan motors, controllers, defrost heaters, temperature controls and refrigerant are not.
- Labor may not be included. Compressor-only coverage is typically for the part. Confirm with the manufacturer whether labor, refrigerant and the technician's time are covered in the extra years.
- Chest freezers are different. Atosa chest freezers carry just 1 year of parts and labor, plus 4 more years on the sealed compressor.
- It's easy to void. Atosa and Turbo Air both require a new filter drier whenever the sealed system is opened, a micron-level vacuum, and a replacement compressor sourced through the manufacturer. A repair that skips these steps can void the remaining compressor coverage.
Freezers also run their compressors and defrost systems harder than refrigerators, so the parts outside compressor coverage (defrost heaters, evaporator fan motors, controllers) are the repairs you're most likely to pay for after year 3. A commercial freezer extended warranty covers the whole unit, including those parts and the labor, for up to 5 years total.
Commercial Ice Machine Warranty Guide
Ice machines combine refrigeration with water handling, so they have more parts that wear than a refrigerator: water pumps, water inlet valves, harvest assist components, float and level sensors, evaporator plates and control boards. Hard water speeds all of that up.
Factory Coverage
Atosa ice machines carry the same factory warranty as Atosa refrigeration: 3 years parts and labor plus 5 years total on the sealed compressor. Other brands vary, and many offer longer coverage on the evaporator and compressor than on the rest of the machine, so check the terms for your model.
What Commercial Ice Machine Warranty Coverage Doesn't Include
Scale and mineral buildup, clogged water filters and failures caused by skipped cleaning are maintenance issues, not covered failures, under both factory warranties and extended plans. Clean and sanitize the machine and change the water filter on the manufacturer's schedule, and keep records of it.
Extended Coverage
Our ice machine extended warranty is one price for any machine up to $30,000. Extending a machine with a 3-year factory warranty to 5 years total is $451.99, and plans for machines already out of warranty start at $325.99 for 1 year. Shop commercial ice machines.
Buying Used Equipment? Factory Warranties Don't Transfer
Restaurants open and close often, so there's always plenty of used refrigeration and cooking equipment for sale. But manufacturer warranties cover only the original purchaser. Any attempt to transfer them voids the coverage, so a used unit usually comes with no factory warranty at all, and a seller who isn't an authorized dealer may offer no recourse if it fails. If you buy used, a CPS plan for equipment with an expired factory warranty is the way to get it covered. New equipment, by comparison, includes 1 to 5 years of factory coverage depending on the brand and product.
Are Commercial Refrigerator Extended Warranties Worth It?
A commercial refrigerator extended warranty is worth it when a single repair would cost more than the plan, or when losing the unit would shut down part of your menu. Here's a real example using our pricing:
| Example | Amount |
|---|---|
| Atosa reach-in refrigerator | About $4,000 |
| Atosa factory warranty | 3 years parts and labor |
| CPS plan to extend to 5 years total | $349.99, one time |
| One evaporator fan motor failure after year 3 | $150.43 for the part alone, plus the service call and labor |
If the unit never has a covered failure in years 4 and 5, the plan pays nothing, but you've capped your repair risk for those years.
Consider a Plan When
- The factory parts and labor warranty is short, like the 1-year coverage on most cooking equipment.
- The equipment is central to your menu or service, like a pizza prep table, main fryer or ice machine.
- Repairs need a specialized technician, as refrigeration and ice machine repairs usually do.
- Your business would struggle to absorb a surprise repair bill.
- You bought the equipment used and it has no factory coverage left.
A Plan May Matter Less When
- The equipment is inexpensive and easy to replace.
- The factory warranty already runs 5 years or more.
- The equipment is used occasionally rather than every service.
How Much Does Commercial Refrigerator Repair Cost?
Commercial refrigerator repair costs come down to three things: the part, the technician's labor, and the service call. Here is what the most common replacement parts cost, using our own current Atosa parts prices.
| Repair | Part | Part price | What else to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Door gasket | W0404579 | $37.74 | Often a quick install |
| Temperature probe | W0302317 | $26.22 | Diagnosis is most of the cost |
| Condenser fan motor | W0301033 | $101.64 | Service call plus about an hour of labor |
| Evaporator fan motor | W0301912-01 | $150.43 | Service call plus labor inside the cabinet |
| Digital controller | W0302174-FR6A6D10 (refrigerator) or W0302175-FF3G4D10 (freezer) | $152.46 to $171.97 | Programming and testing |
| Defrost heater (freezers) | W0311039 | $100.21 | Evaporator access, often 1 to 2 hours |
| Compressor | W0201044 or W0201835 | $616.20 to $889.35 | Refrigerant recovery and recharge, new filter drier, vacuum and several hours of labor |
Labor is usually the biggest part of the bill. Commercial refrigeration technicians bill a service call plus an hourly rate, and both vary widely by region, time of day and how quickly you need someone on site. Emergency, night and weekend calls cost more. A fan motor or controller repair often ends up several times the price of the part once labor is added, and a compressor replacement on a reach-in can run well over $1,000 installed.
That's the math behind an extended warranty: one covered repair in years 4 or 5 typically costs more than the plan itself. If you'd rather repair it yourself or with your own technician, you can order genuine Atosa parts from our Atosa parts catalog.
Warranty Tips by Equipment Type
Refrigerators and Prep Tables
Compressors, condenser and evaporator fan motors, controllers and temperature probes are the usual repairs. Prep tables run hardest during peak service, so a failure hits both storage and the line. Keep condenser coils clean and allow proper airflow; blocked ventilation is a common reason claims are denied. Shop commercial refrigerators, reach-in refrigerators and undercounter refrigerators, or see the refrigerator extended warranty.
Freezers
Freezers add defrost heaters and defrost controls to the list of parts that fail, and a breakdown can cost a full cabinet of frozen inventory. Shop commercial freezers or see the freezer extended warranty.
Fryers, Ranges, Griddles and Ovens
Cooking equipment usually carries the shortest factory coverage. Thermostats, gas valves, high-limit switches, igniters, pilot assemblies and convection fan motors are the common repairs. Shop commercial deep fryers, griddles, charbroilers and ovens and ranges, or see the fryer, range, griddle and charbroiler and oven extended warranties.
What Voids a Commercial Refrigerator Warranty?
Most denied refrigeration claims come down to installation, maintenance or how the unit was serviced. The common causes:
- Improper installation: not enough clearance for airflow, installation next to a heat source, or an unsuitable location.
- Wrong electrical connection: extension cords, shared adapters or the wrong circuit. Units should plug directly into a properly rated, preferably dedicated outlet.
- Unauthorized repairs: work done without the manufacturer's or CPS's approval.
- Skipped maintenance: dirty condenser coils, scaled ice machines, worn gaskets left in place.
- Improper refrigeration service: Atosa's compressor warranty requires a new filter drier whenever the system is opened, a micron-level vacuum, and compressors sourced through Atosa.
- Missing records: no proof of purchase, model or serial number.
Keep a simple file for each unit with the receipt, model and serial number, install date and maintenance log. It makes any claim faster.
How to File a Claim
- Find the model and serial number on the unit's data plate, and pull your proof of purchase and install date.
- Check which coverage applies. If the factory warranty is still active, start there. For Atosa, call (855) 855-0399. If a compressor is replaced under warranty, Atosa requires the old compressor or its tag to be returned.
- For a CPS plan, contact CPS using the claims information in your plan documents, or visit CPS's website.
- Get authorization before any repair work. Repairs arranged on your own may not be reimbursed.
- Document the problem with symptoms, error codes, temperature readings and photos, and follow food-safety procedures for refrigeration failures.
- Keep every service report and receipt.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a manufacturer warranty and an extended warranty?
A manufacturer warranty comes with new equipment and is set by the manufacturer. For example, Atosa refrigeration carries 3 years parts and labor plus 5 years on the compressor. An extended warranty is an optional plan you buy separately, either to add years after the factory warranty ends or to cover equipment whose factory warranty has already expired.
Are restaurant equipment extended warranties worth it?
They are worth considering for expensive or business-critical equipment, especially when the factory parts and labor warranty is short. Most cooking equipment, including Atosa fryers, griddles and ranges, carries only 1 year of parts and labor. Compare the plan price with the cost of a single service call plus parts, and with how much it would hurt your business to have the unit down.
Can I buy an extended warranty after I bought my equipment?
Yes. Our CPS plans can be added to equipment you already own, including equipment whose factory warranty has expired. Choose Factory Warranty Expired on the plan page. Plans for out-of-warranty equipment may include a waiting period before coverage starts. Atosa's own extended warranties, by contrast, must be purchased at the time of the equipment purchase.
Can I get a warranty on used restaurant equipment?
Manufacturer warranties are generally non-transferable, so used equipment usually has no factory coverage left for the new owner. A CPS plan for equipment with an expired factory warranty is one way to get coverage on equipment you bought used.
Does a CPS plan cover parts and labor?
Yes. CPS commercial plans cover parts and labor for covered repairs, with on-site service and a $0 deductible. Full terms, conditions and exclusions are included in your plan documents.
Does a commercial refrigerator warranty cover food spoilage?
Not automatically. Our plan pages cover repair of the equipment; spoiled inventory is generally not included. Check your business insurance for food-loss coverage.
Does an extended warranty cover the compressor?
Compressors can be covered by a CPS plan as part of the whole unit. Many manufacturers also have a separate compressor warranty. Atosa refrigeration, for example, covers the sealed compressor for 5 years total, but that compressor coverage excludes other parts such as fan assemblies, temperature controls and electrical components. A plan that extends parts and labor on the whole unit fills that gap.
What can void a restaurant equipment warranty?
Common causes are improper installation, poor ventilation, wrong electrical or gas connections, unauthorized repairs and skipped maintenance. Atosa's compressor warranty, for example, requires the filter drier to be replaced whenever the system is opened, a proper micron-level vacuum, and replacement compressors sourced through Atosa.
How do I file a warranty claim?
For a factory warranty claim on Atosa equipment, call Atosa at (855) 855-0399 with your model number, serial number, proof of purchase and installation date. For a CPS plan, contact CPS through the claims information in your plan documents and get authorization before any repair work starts.
How much does an extended warranty cost?
It depends on the equipment type, what you paid for it, your current factory warranty and how many years you want. For example, extending an Atosa refrigerator over $3,000 from its 3-year factory warranty to 5 years total is $349.99, and extending a fryer under $300 from 1 year to 2 years total is $19.99.
Do warranties transfer to a new owner?
Manufacturer warranties generally do not. They cover only the original purchaser. Transfer rules for CPS plans are set out in the plan documents.
Can food trucks buy extended warranties?
Some commercial equipment used in food trucks may qualify. Contact us with the equipment and how it is installed before ordering so we can confirm eligibility.
Does Atosa's compressor warranty cover labor?
Atosa covers parts and labor on the whole unit for the first 3 years on reach-in refrigeration. The additional compressor coverage in years 4 and 5 applies only to the sealed compressor, so confirm with Atosa whether labor and refrigerant are included for a claim in those years. A CPS extended warranty covers parts and labor on the whole unit through the term you choose.
How much does it cost to replace a commercial refrigerator compressor?
The compressor alone runs about $616 to $889 for common Atosa reach-in compressors. Add refrigerant recovery and recharge, a new filter drier, a vacuum and several hours of a refrigeration technician's labor, and the total often exceeds $1,000.
