Restaurant Furniture

Commercial Restaurant Furniture for Dining Rooms, Bars and Cafes

Build a dining room that works as well during a busy service as it looks before opening. Shop restaurant furniture including dining chairs, bar stools, dining tables, high-top bar tables, table bases, and coordinated table-and-chair or table-and-stool sets. Start with the way guests will use each space, then compare the dimensions, construction, finish and care requirements of the individual products.

The right restaurant tables and chairs should support your service style without making the room difficult to navigate or clean. A compact cafe may need flexible two-person tables, while a restaurant bar may need supportive stools and high-top tables. Use the buying guide below to compare options across the collection without treating every furniture category as a separate purchasing decision.

Restaurant Dining Tables, Chairs and Coordinated Sets

Choose dining furniture around the meal and the guest, not just the number of seats you want to fit. Consider how much room is needed for plates, shared dishes and drinks, whether guests will sit for a quick lunch or a longer dinner, and how easily servers can reach each place setting. Check the complete table dimensions and the chair's overall width, depth and seat height before ordering a roomful of either.

Restaurant dining chairs are available in upholstered and unupholstered configurations within this collection. Compare back support, seat shape and cleaning needs alongside the style. An upholstered seat adds a different feel to the room, but its covering and seams need a suitable care routine. With an unupholstered chair, examine the seat contour, backrest and contact edges rather than assuming that a simple design will suit every guest.

Armchairs need enough space beside neighboring seats and enough clearance to tuck under the intended table. For a family-friendly dining room, plan where high chairs or booster seating can be used without obstructing circulation. For longer meals, consider trying a sample chair with the actual table before committing to a larger order.

Choosing tables for larger parties: Compare shape as well as overall dimensions. Round tables let guests face one another, but a wider top can make shared dishes in the center harder to reach. Rectangular tables offer flexibility for row layouts and combined seating. Before deciding how many guests a table can accommodate, test your actual chairs, place settings, and serving dishes, including legroom around the base and access for servers.

Buying a Table-and-Chair or Table-and-Stool Set

A coordinated set can simplify finish and style selection, but check the contents of the exact listing. Confirm the number of seats, table dimensions, seat height, upholstery or finish, and whether assembly is required. A dining-height table-and-chair set and a bar-height table-and-stool set serve different spaces; matching colors alone do not make their components interchangeable.

If you are mixing individual pieces instead, compare the whole arrangement. Include chair pullback, stool footrests, table legs and the base footprint when you assess usable space. Keep the model and finish information with your order so later replacement pieces can be matched more carefully.

Commercial Bar Tables and Restaurant Bar Stools

Bar furniture can create a distinct seating area without redesigning the entire dining room. High-top tables work differently from standard dining tables, and stools should be selected for the actual height of the table or counter they will serve. Measure from the floor to the seat and to the underside of the tabletop or counter, including any apron or support that reduces knee room.

Do not rely on the words “bar,” “pub” or “counter” alone. Read the stated dimensions, compare the available legroom and check how comfortably guests can reach the surface. A thick top or deep apron can change the fit even when two tables have the same overall height.

Compare restaurant seating by how it will be used
Furniture choice Planning priority Check before ordering
Dining table with dining chairs Comfortable meal service and flexible seating Seat height, tabletop size, chair pullback and arm clearance
Bar table with bar stools High-top seating for the bar or casual dining area Seat-to-surface fit, knee room, footrests and base stability
Backless bar stool A compact silhouette and potential tuck-under storage Actual clearance beneath the top, apron and supports
Bar stool with a back Back support and a more defined seating position Overall depth, room to enter and exit, and cleaning access
Coordinated furniture set Consistent finishes and a specified combination of pieces Included quantities, dimensions, assembly and intended location

Backrests, Footrests and Upholstery

Backless stools can be useful where a lower visual profile matters, but they only slide under a table when the dimensions allow it. Stools with backs provide another option for guests who prefer support. Consider the footrest position and the space around the stool as part of the seating experience, not as decorative details.

For upholstered bar stools, compare cleaning instructions and access around seams. If a model swivels, allow space for its turning movement and check the manufacturer's maintenance instructions for the mechanism. Neither an appealing finish nor a large stated weight capacity replaces checking that the stool is suitable for its intended commercial use.

Restaurant Table Bases: Match the Top, Height and Footprint

A table base is not a universal attachment for any tabletop. Compare the manufacturer's recommended top sizes and shapes, mounting pattern, hardware, finished table height and intended environment. A base sold separately may require a separately purchased top, and a bar-height column should not be substituted for a dining-height column without checking the full assembly.

For a concrete example, the Beverly 24-inch round bar-height table base lists a 40.5-inch overall base height and recommends 24- to 30-inch round or square tops. The Palis indoor/outdoor double-column dining base is listed for a 30-by-48-inch tabletop. These are product-specific compatibility examples, not a sizing rule for every base in the collection; confirm the current listing and assembly instructions for your chosen combination.

Check legroom as well as tabletop support. A pedestal, cross base and double-column base occupy space differently beneath the table. Guests should have room for their feet, and staff should be able to clean around the base without repeatedly dragging the assembly.

When a table rocks, check the floor contact points, adjustable glides, mounting hardware and condition of the structure. Do not assume that a heavier base alone will fix loose fasteners or an incompatible top. Remove an unstable or damaged table from service until the cause has been addressed using the manufacturer's guidance.

Choosing Materials and Finishes for Daily Restaurant Use

Choose materials based on cleaning, wear and location as well as appearance. Wood, metal, laminate and upholstery all require product-specific evaluation. A material name does not tell you whether a particular chair is stackable, a tabletop is suitable outdoors, or a finish will tolerate your cleaning products.

Questions to ask about restaurant furniture materials
Material or surface What to compare Care consideration
Wood seating or tabletops Joinery, finish, edge condition and replacement-part availability Use the finish-specific care instructions; do not apply oil or wax to every wood surface
Metal frames and bases Connections, coating condition, floor glides and intended indoor/outdoor use Inspect for damage and use compatible cleaners
Laminate or reversible tops Dimensions, edge construction, mounting requirements and finish choices Follow the listing's limits for moisture, heat and cleaning chemicals
Upholstered seating Covering, seams, support, cleaning instructions and replacement options Use the upholstery manufacturer's approved products and dilution instructions

Ask for model-specific commercial-use information, warranty terms and any relevant testing documentation. Do not treat a generic “commercial-grade” description as a promise that every item has the same certification or load rating. Compare specifications for the exact product rather than applying a blog's general claims to the whole catalog.

Plan the Dining Room Before Choosing Quantities

Draw the room with its doors, service stations, fixed counters and other obstructions before counting tables. Place furniture at its actual dimensions and show occupied chairs and stools, not just seats pushed neatly under the tops. Walk through how guests arrive, how servers carry meals, and how staff clear and clean the room.

Movable tables and chairs offer layout flexibility, while booths or banquettes can define a perimeter seating area where they are part of your design. Consider different guest needs rather than making every seat a high-top. Confirm accessible routes, dining positions, occupancy and egress requirements with the appropriate local professionals; a generic spacing recommendation is not a substitute for an approved plan.

Small tables that can be combined may help accommodate different party sizes, but check that tops meet at compatible heights and that the combined bases do not interfere with seating. Allow room for the furniture to move during normal use. A layout that works only when every chair is empty is not ready for service.

Folding and Stackable Seating for Events or Overflow

If your operating plan includes folding or stackable chairs, evaluate storage and handling as carefully as seated comfort. Confirm the exact model's commercial-use suitability, folded dimensions or permitted stacking arrangement, and compatible carts or dollies. Do not assume a dining chair can be stacked because it resembles a banquet chair.

Account for doorways, storage access and safe handling when planning event seating. Where a folding mechanism is present, follow its locking and inspection instructions and keep damaged pieces out of use. This is planning guidance for comparing such products; it is not a claim that every specialty seating style is currently offered in this collection.

Outdoor Restaurant Furniture and Wet-Weather Planning

For a patio, select pieces explicitly listed for outdoor use. An indoor metal chair or powder-coated base is not automatically appropriate for exposure to rain. Check the complete product, including its tabletop, fasteners, upholstery and finish, rather than judging suitability from the frame alone.

Seattle and other wet-weather locations make a seasonal care plan especially useful. Follow the manufacturer's cleaning and storage guidance, allow suitable cushions and surfaces to dry before storage, and use compatible protective covers with ventilation where recommended. Check covers for fit and secure attachment, and avoid arrangements that trap moisture or allow water to collect.

Plan where furniture will go during extended closures or severe weather. Include covered storage, access for moving pieces and a reopening inspection. Outdoor-use approval should not be read as a promise that an item needs no maintenance or can be left in every weather condition without protection.

A Practical Furniture Care and Inspection Routine

Build furniture checks into opening, closing and scheduled maintenance rather than waiting for a guest to report a problem. Use the manufacturer's instructions to set inspection and maintenance intervals appropriate to each product and its level of use. Keep model details and replacement-part information where staff can find them.

  • Clean for the surface: address spills promptly and use approved cleaning products. Avoid a single homemade dilution or chemical recommendation for every upholstery, wood finish and tabletop.
  • Check the contact points: examine floor glides, feet and adjustable levelers for wear or damage. Replace parts with suitable components before they cause further problems.
  • Inspect the structure: look for looseness, damaged joints, cracked components, sharp edges and torn coverings. Remove questionable furniture from service while arranging an appropriate repair or replacement.
  • Follow assembly requirements: use specified fasteners and tightening instructions. Do not improvise structural repairs or assume additional screws make an unsuitable chair safe.
  • Record recurring issues: note the model, location and repair history so repeated problems can be addressed rather than temporarily concealed.

Inspect tabletop edges and mounting points: Include edge banding, seams, and the connection between the tabletop and base in your maintenance checks. Look for loose trim, exposed core material, swelling, or movement at the mounting plate. Ask the manufacturer whether damage calls for an approved repair or replacement rather than applying glue, extra screws, or a generic refinishing treatment.

Restaurant Furniture Purchasing Checklist

Compare the full installed arrangement rather than the price of a single chair. Freight, receiving arrangements, assembly, storage and replacement needs can all affect which option works best for your restaurant. Confirm availability and delivery terms for the actual order instead of relying on old blog pricing or generic lead-time estimates.

  1. Define the seating areas, menu service and indoor or outdoor environment.
  2. Measure tables, chairs, stools, doorways and the intended operating layout.
  3. Verify table-to-seat fit and tabletop-to-base compatibility.
  4. Check quantities, finish selections and what each set includes.
  5. Review commercial-use specifications, care instructions, warranty and replacement parts.
  6. Confirm assembly, receiving and delivery details before placing the order.
